Dean Henderson meanwhile was left out of the Manchester United squad for their FA Cup clash with Aston Villa on Monday but manager Ralf Rangnick is insisting the goalkeeper stays with the club for the rest of the season.
Jesse Lingard did play on Monday night, but he is set to leave Old Trafford either this month or at the end of the season when his contract expires and Tottenham have emerged as a potential destination for him.
Elsewhere, Newcastle have been told it will cost a huge amount to bring in Bayer Leverkusen’s Patrick Schick as their hunt for a new striker becomes more urgent. The Magpies are also talking to Stade de Reims about £30m-rated teenage striker Hugo Ekitike.
