Following these simple rules when choosing your holiday luggage will mean that your items are safe and will give you a peace of mind.

In the TikTok video, Ms Adekola illustrates just how easy it is for a thief to get into a locked suitcase using just a pen that is forced in between the zipper.

After prodding a pen through, the TikToker shows just how easily the zip of the suitcase comes apart, giving the thief easy access to all your belongings.

She says: ‘First never pick suitcases with zippers like this because people are literally stealing your stuff with just a pen.

‘Basically what people are doing is they’re taking their pen and they are literally just pushing in between there.’

She pierces a pen right by the handle as she continues to say: ‘And they’re getting into your suitcase.

‘Then what they do is when you have a padlock they are going to go over it [the hole] and you would never know.’

Ms Adekola then proceeds to pick up a different suitcase with a concealed zip.

And the travel expert also recommends going for darker coloured suitcases such as grey and black, because it is 'harder to see the stains,' as opposed to lighter ones

She explains that these are better when traveling as she says: ‘For suitcases with zippers like this that are somewhat invisible it is much harder to actually puncture into it.’

However, the travel expert said that there are even better suitcases out on the market, as she explains: ‘You can go for suitcases without any zippers.’

In advising travelers which baggage to purchase, she brings up a picture of a suitcase with aluminum frame and buckles on the side, adding that these are ‘way more affordable’ thank some more up-market brands such as Tumi or Rimowa.

She adds that it is important to note ‘you really don’t need an expensive suitcase, just one that no zippers or invisible zippers.’

In advising travelers what else they need to look out for when buying luggage, Ms Adekola explained that the material one is made from is always important.

She says that it is best to spend your money on one that is made form harder shell-like material, as opposed to softer or cotton ones.

This is because, she says that harder shell ones are ‘waterproof and your that means your clothes aren’t going to get damaged.’
