Trevor Bauer throws tantrum on teammates in Japanese league: ‘Wake up!’

Trevor Bauer let his temper get the better of him again on Saturday.

Bauer, who now pitches for the Yokohama DeNA BayStars in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball, snagged a bases-loaded comebacker to end the sixth inning of the team’s game against the Chunichi Dragons on Saturday.

But rather than throw it to first base, the disgraced former Cy Young sprinted to first base on his own.

As he neared the dugout, Bauer could be seen screaming “Wake up!” along with other inaudible yells toward his teammates, seemingly unhappy with their defense in what was his final inning of the night.

Prior to the third out of the inning, the BayStars had failed to capitalize on catching multiple Dragons baserunners in rundowns and cost Bauer an out.

Bauer was followed by teammate Daisuke Miura, who waived for reinforcements as their star pitcher disappeared from the cameras in the dugout.

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred suspended Bauer last year for violating the league’s domestic violence and sexual assault policy after a San Diego woman claimed he beat and sexually abused her in 2021.

An arbiter reduced his suspension from two years to 194 games, but the Dodgers cut him in January, and he had no MLB suitors as a free agent.

The 32-year-old Bauer was not charged with a crime, and he denies the allegations.

Saturday’s incident comes just two weeks after Bauer claimed on his Twitter account that the media was trying to portray that his teammates hated him and that he was racist.

“But the America media still wants you to believe my teammates hate me and think my sword celebration is racist….” Bauer tweeted.

Bauer received pushback on social media for his sword celebration that he uses when he strikes out a batter to end an inning.

Bauer recently dropped his defamation case against The Athletic‘s Molly Knight earlier in June before another lawsuit was launched, accusing the ex-Dodger of holding a steak knife to a woman’s throat.

He surrendered 10 hits and two walks in Saturday’s outing, though he gave up just two runs and struck out six in what was a 3-2 BayStars win.

The BayStars’ defense also allowed an error in the second inning of the game, according to Flash Score.
