Tripadvisor’s hottest destinations around the world for 2022

Whether you’re an armchair traveler or a globetrotter hoping for whirlwind adventures in 2022 — or some day, at any rate —  Tripadvisor’s annual Travelers’ Choice Awards are always a fun read.

This year, in addition to the usual “best destinations” lists — determined by traveler raves on Tripadvisor.com — the site also offered up its first-ever, genre-specific destination lists for outdoors enthusiasts, city lovers, “sun seekers” and, you know, us. Travelers who spend lunch discussing where we’re going to eat dinner.

San Francisco pops up on those lists as the No. 6 U.S. destination for food lovers, No. 7 for city appeal and No. 16 for most popular U.S. hot spot. San Diego comes next on the latter list, with Los Angeles at No. 25.

Let’s just say, Spain’s Balearic Islands are very hot indeed. Here’s a peek at that list.
