Trump’s Indictment Ignites An Explosion Of Memes, Gleeful Mockery On Twitter

The internet has been feverishly speculating about former President Donald Trump’s impending arrest for years now, and the anticipation reached fever pitch after Trump recently claimed the law was coming for him, resulting in AI-generated images of Trump’s “arrest” going viral.

Hence, after Trump’s indictment was officially announced (for his alleged role in paying hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels), Twitter exploded in glee, and the memes flowed like water.

Here are some of the best memes about Trump’s indictment:

Home Alone proved a surprisingly common theme, as Discussing Film broke the news by describing Trump as a Home Alone 2: Lost in New York star, which is technically correct, but a surreal framing for the earth-shaking news.

Just like the wave of “Trump’s arrest” memes, many used Midjourney to generate images of Trump in prison.

Others opted for more traditional methods, using clumsily photoshopped images and photos.

Many noted the overlap between the conclusion of Gwyneth Paltrow’s trial, with some joking that Trump’s indictment was simply a “distraction” from Paltrow’s court victory.

A longtime running joke on Twitter is that the so-called “resistance liberals” have been fruitlessly praying for Trump’s downfall, with some even comparing them to QAnon cultists who think that their political enemies are perpetually on the brink of arrest. Turns out, the believers were correct.

Jeff Tiedrich, a writer who has cultivated a reputation as Trump’s most dedicated hater and “reply guy,” was jokingly heralded, with his big day finally arriving.

Others made playful speculations on how the arrest and legal process might go down.

Many found it hilariously ironic that Trump’s downfall was triggered by a crime as relatively inconsequential as hush money.

Trump facing legal consequences for his alleged affair with Daniels seems like a fitting plot twist, as many details of Trump’s life seem almost like clunky parody; the former president seems to inhabit a never-ending SNL sketch, generated by a malfunctioning AI, and his alleged affair was characteristically absurd.

In a tell-all interview with Anderson Cooper, Daniels described spanking Trump’s bottom with a magazine, featuring a picture of Trump on the cover that he had been boasting about. She claims that Trump was impressed by her attitude, and gave her an extremely normal compliment, stating: “Wow, you— you are special. You remind me of my daughter.”

The alleged extramarital affair soon morphed into a Shark Week binging session, for some reason. Daniels said: “I remember arriving, and he was watching Shark Week. He made me sit and watch an entire documentary about shark attacks.”

Speaking to In Touch Weekly, Daniels described Trump as “obsessed” and “terrified” of sharks. She quoted Trump, saying: “He was like, ‘I donate to all these charities and I would never donate to any charity that helps sharks. I hope all the sharks die.’”

Daniels described their alleged affair as “the least impressive sex I’d ever had,” and famously compared Trump’s “small” penis to Toad, the mushroom character from Mario Kart. Daniels went on to claim that Trump “knows he has an unusual penis.”

Just like Trump’s indictment, the “Toad” reveal was another memorable day of memes on Twitter; no doubt, there will be many more ahead.
