Thomas Tuchel is weighing up a remarkable double raid on champions Manchester City – for unsettled England winger Raheem Sterling AND striker Gabriel Jesus.
With new owner Todd Boehly’s £200 million war chest at his disposal, and the likelihood of him generating even more buying power by offloading Romelu Lukaku and possibly Jorginho, Tuchel is thinking big.
With the summer window now open, it promises to be a fascinating few weeks at Stamford Bridge. Here’s a run-down of all the latest rumours and speculation surrounding Chelsea’s transfer business.
Blues eye double Man City swoop
Chelsea believe they could bring Raheem Sterling back to west London, where his talent blossomed in QPR’s youth team.
And now the London Evening Standard report the Blues are exploring a move to gazump Arsenal and Tottenham in the race for City striker Gabriel Jesus as well.
There is a growing concern at the Etihad that Sterling could quit the champions this summer over growing frustration that he is no longer regarded as automatic first choice in Pep Guardiola’s optimum starting XI.

Sterling, 27, was England’s player of the tournament at Euro 2020 but made only 23 Premier League starts for City in the 2021-22 campaign. Although he scored 17 goals in all competitions, The Sun reported his frustration has intensified since he was omitted from Guardiola’s starting XI in both legs of the Champions League semi-final defeat by Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants, along with El Clasico rivals Barcelona, are said to be monitoring Sterling’s situation at City, where he has just 12 months left on his £300,000-a-week deal. Sterling would like to clarify his future after England’s summer programme ends with the Nations League tie against Hungary on Tuesday night.
In a surprise development, Jesus – whose representatives are exploring all avenues away from Manchester City this summer – is understood to have sounded out Chelsea about a possible move. The 25-year-old Brazilian scored 13 goals in all competitions last season, including vital goals against Chelsea, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

But the arrival of Erling Haaland at the Etihad appears to have blocked his path to regular first-team football and his agents have been in contact with some of Europe’s most gilded clubs. Jesus is thought to prefer remaining in the Premier League – with one of the London clubs his likeliest destinations.
Skriniar holds Inter key

While Chelsea explore ways to offload Romelu Lukaku without taking a severe financial hit on their record £97.5 million outlay last summer, Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has emerged as a possible makeweight in any deal.
The Blues believe they are close to tying up a £68 million deal for Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde, with the French international earmarked to replace Antonio Rudiger following the German’s defection to Real Madrid.
But the Daily Mail report that Slovakian international Skriniar, 27, could hold the balance in any return ticket to the San Siro for Lukaku, whose eight Premier League goals for Chelsea last season represent a poor return on their huge outlay.
Paris Saint-Germain are thought to be rivals in the market for a player where the bidding would probably start at £50 million.
Chelsea losing Rice battle
With Declan Rice increasingly unlikely to leave West Ham in this transfer window – despite turning down a massive new long-term deal with the Hammers – Tuchel is looking at alternatives.
And PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, who is thought to have a £30 million release clause in his contract, could fit the bill. Tottenham have also been monitoring Sangare’s situation in Holland.
