Turkish Minister of Health visits Emirati field hospital in Gaziantep

GAZIANTEP, Türkiye, 26th February, 2023 (WAM) — Dr. Fahrettin Koca, Turkish Minister of Health, paid a visit today to the Emirati field hospital in the Turkish city of Gaziantep, which was created as part of Operation ‘The Gallant Knight 2’, led by the UAE Ministry of Defence’s Joint Operations Command.

The Turkish minister was received by Brigadier General Dr. Sarhan Al Neyadi, Commander of the Medical Services Corps, and a number of medical and treatment cadres at the hospital.

During the visit, the Turkish Minister of Health was briefed on the hospital’s departments, its capabilities, and its medical, nursing, technical, and administrative staffs.

Al Neyadi said that the hospital’s medical staff are well-trained to provide the finest medical and treatment services to the victims of the recent earthquake in Türkiye.

He added that work at the field hospital will continue after the UAE Joint Operations Command declared that the Operation Gallant Knight 2 has moved from the rapid response phase to the recovery and rehabilitation phase to assist quake victims in Türkiye.

Equipped to carry out major and complex operations, the field hospital covers an area of 40,000 square meters and has 50 beds as well as four intensive care beds. It is the first and largest such field hospital that contributes significantly to humanitarian relief efforts.
