Chennai-based TVS Motor Company has roped in Madhu Singh, formerly with Tata Motors, as associate vice-president for electric mobility division.

Singh, who assumed office earlier this month, headed Tata Motors operations in Bangladesh before this.

Earlier in January this year, TVS had appointed Venkat Viswanathan – an associate professor of Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University – as the technical advisor for its electric mobility division to draw on his expertise in advance battery technology.

TVS has committed Rs 1000 crore to develop electric mobility solutions in its wholly-owned subsidiary. The company is readying a portfolio of two and three-wheelers in the range of 5-25kW, which will hit the market within the next two years. The company envisages presence across electric vehicles segments such as the delivery market, commuter space, premium scooters, high-performance sporty motorcycles and electric three-wheelers.

TVS has also announced a strategic tie-up with Tata Power to build a network of world-class public charging infrastructure.
