Twin-stick roguelike game I See Red gets a new trailer after being picked up by publisher Gameforge

Whether it’s human, alien, or robot, what connects them is one universal truth: they all bleed (even if it’s a bit of oil). I See Red is a fast-paced, twin-stick shooter roguelike game with a striking red and black aesthetic. The game made some waves earlier in the year, earning the ‘Eye-Poppingly Beautiful’ award during Rogue Jam 2022. And now, I See Red has been picked up by German publisher Gameforge (AION, NosTale). The announcement comes paired with an all-new trailer which, yes, spills a lot of red.

Set in the distant future, I See Red places you in the space boots of a wandering outlaw. The goal is revenge. And the method? Well, a whole lot of violence. I See Red is a roguelike, where levels play out on space ships filled with enemies and structures to decimate. Everything can be destroyed and, by the end, most ships will likely be nothing more than floating, half-scorched debris.

The game looks promising in the new trailer, showing off brisk movement options and a plethora of guns and carnage. With Gameforge, developer Whiteboard Games plans to bring the fun and guns of I See Red to PC later this year.

“We are humbled to partner with Gameforge as only the second independent studio to join their talented roster of development partners,” said Luciano Musella, president of Whiteboard Games, in a press release. “We are a very passionate team of developers who seek to create unique and authentic experiences for video game fans to enjoy, and we feel that through this partnership, we will absolutely achieve that.”

If it bleeds, you can kill it

I See Red looks like a crunchy and frenetic game in its latest trailer. There are varied weapons you can wield, such as pistols and shotguns. A grappling hook can also setup more personal encounters, where you can take down enemies with your mitts or a big “screw-off” hammer seen in the above trailer. Taking damage increases a Rage meter, and once filled, you can activate it to rip and tear foes all around you. As a roguelike, upgrades come in the form of components that can be found during your runs.

So far, I See Red is looking quite promising. We’ll know for sure how it fares when it lands on PC for Steam and the Epic Games Store later this year.
