An heiress and wellness guru will head to trial in eight months to fight allegations she had sex with a 14-year-old boy twice in one day.
Savannah Daisley appeared in Sydney Downing Centre District Court on Monday over allegations she had sex with the teenager in late May 2021.
Police allege the 45-year-old said she had certain feelings for the 14-year-old and gave him alcohol before she allegedly had sex with him on two occasions.
She was highly intoxicated at the time of the offences, according to police allegations.
The heiress then allegedly spoke to the minor over the phone and instructed him to stay quiet about the affair, which she labelled a one-off occurrence.
Police lawfully tapped the phone call during which Ms Daisley allegedly admitted to some of the offending.
The intercepted discussion between the 45-year-old and the alleged victim will be relied upon during the upcoming trial.
The court heard there are two outstanding pieces of material as Ms Daisley prepares to fight the charges.
Director of Public Prosecutions solicitor Rebecca Nezval said the crown was waiting on material from a jail cell and data which had been extracted and analysed from two phones.
Both items are subject to legal privilege, the court heard.
“It’s probably moving slowly because there are a lot of cooks in the kitchen,” Ms Nezval said.
Ms Daisley was arraigned before Judge Kate Traill on Monday.
She formally entered pleas of not guilty and was committed for a trial in October.
The court heard there will be a number of underage witnesses, including the alleged victim, who will testify through prerecorded interviews.
Ms Nezval also noted the crown will call “a couple of adult witnesses” to the stand.
The court was told the trial is expected to run for five days.
Ms Daisley will return to court at the end of April to determine whether there are any legal issues or arguments to be settled before the trial begins in eight months’ time.
The 45-year-old will remain on bail, which she was granted last year to continue operating her business.
She runs a celebrity-endorsed business called Smart Cleanse which focuses on promoting detoxification and health.
The self-described naturopath boasts around 40,000 followers on Instagram thanks to her two-week detox program and has written two books on wellbeing.
Her conditional liberty was secured by $100,000 surety from her father, champion horse breeder Ross Daisley.
The equestrian heiress is restricted by an order to live with her parents in the NSW Southern Highlands.
She is required to report to police twice a week and must submit to drug and alcohol testing to ensure her compliance with her bail conditions.
Ms Daisley is forbidden from being in the company of children unless supervised and cannot contact the alleged victim or any witnesses.
An apprehended violence order to protect the alleged victim will remain in place until at least until June.
