Twitter bashes New York Magazine’s book of gushing essays on AOC

New York Magazine is getting slammed on social media for putting out a book of essays by contributors who trip over themselves to pay homage to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The upcoming book, “Take up Space: The Unprecedented AOC,” is a collection of essays and articles about the lefty Democrat from the Big Apple — and gushingly described on publisher Simon & Schuster’s Web site as “an in-depth look at one of the most prominent political and cultural stars in recent memory.”

But Twitter is already giving a blistering review to the site’s listing of some contents of the book, such as AOC’s “unprecedented position in American politics,” “her rare authenticity,” “the role her beauty plays in public perception” and a lighthearted piece on the “total average-ness of her boyfriend.”

“Beyond parody,” tweeted Lahav Harkov, a contributing editor to the Jerusalem Post.

RealClearPolitics co-founder Tom Bevan wrote, “No left-wing cult of personality here.”

Ellen Carmichael, president of the communications firm Lafayette, tweeted, “Media in other countries would be ashamed to suck up to politicians this way.

“How gross.”

The 400-page book hits the stands Feb. 1, according to the publisher.

Simon & Schuster writes on its site that the book is “an engaging, all-encompassing biography of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the bestselling tradition of ‘Notorious RBG’ and ‘Pelosi’ that explores her explosive rise and impact on the future of American culture and politics.”

Atlantic contributor Tom Nichols quoted that description on Twitter, adding, “Next time someone says ‘why are you so focused on AOC, she’s just one out of many Dems,’ I’ll just send them this.”
