Le Tigre has embarked on its first tour in 18 years.
And, thankfully for Bay Area fans, it includes a date in Oakland.
The acclaimed electronic-rock act — featuring Kathleen Hanna (also of Bikini Kill fame), Johanna Fateman and JD Samson — headline Day 1 (July 1) of the popular Mosswood Meltdown festival at Mosswood Park.
Another huge selling point of this two-day music event is Bratmobile, the legendary “riot grrl” outfit that will be making its first public performance in 20 years. Bratmobile closes the festival on Day 2 (July 2).
Yet, Le Tigre and Bratmobile are just two reasons for making a punk-rock pilgrimage to Mosswood Park that weekend.
Other Day 1 acts include Twompsax (reportedly performing its last all-ages show ever), ESG (making its Oakland live debut), The 5678’s, Tina & The Total Babes (only gig in 2023), The Rondelles (ditto), Quintron & Ms. Pussycat, and Morgan & the Organ Donors.
Day 2 acts include Gravy Train!!!! (only gig in 2023), Mika Miko (performing first show in a decade), J.J. Fad, The Avengers, Teddy Bear Orchestra, Snõõper, Brower, Warp and Vore.
And, yes, John Waters is once again set to host the event.
Two-day GA passes are $169. Single-day tickets for July 1 are sold-out, but ducats remain for July 2 priced at $89-$149, mosswoodmeltdown.com. Music starts around noon each day.
