Tommy Fury pulled out of his grudge match against Jake Paul which was due to happen on December 18 in Florida.

No reason was given for why Fury, the brother of heavyweight world champion Tyson, withdrew from the match.

With the former Love Island star pulling out, Tyron Woodley will now be stepping into the ring with YouTuber Jake.

This will be the pair’s second fight, with Tyron having been beaten in August and immediately calling for a rematch.

He had been petitioning for another face off with Paul, agreeing to have “I love Jake Paul ” tattooed on his body, but Paul ended up agreeing to terms with Fury instead.

Who is Tyron Woodley and where is he from?

Tyron Woodley is a former UFC welterweight champion with four successful title defences.

The 39-year-old American martial artist who hails from Missouri and is nicknamed the “The Chosen One”, has been a professional in the sport since 2009.

The fighter initially made his UFC debut in 2013, just four years after debuting in the sport.

He also had an undefeated run from 2014 to 2018, in which he beat Robbie Lawler in 2016 in an impressive first-round knockout to become a UFC welterweight champion.

What is Tyron Woodley’s record?

MMA fighter Tyron Woodley successfully defended his title four times and, though he eventually lost it in 2019, he holds an impressive record of 19-7-1.

Seven of the wins came from knockouts and five by submission. Woodley’s UFC records stand at 9-7-1.

Woodley also shares the record for the most title defences amongst male champions between 2016 and 2020.

When did Tyron Woodley fight Jake Paul and when is the rematch?

Social media star Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley faced off against each other earlier in 2021, on August 28, in which Paul bested Woodley in eight rounds.

The pair were in a highly anticipated boxing match against each other.

The match against the YouTuber was actually Woodley’s debut in the pro boxing, and the rivalry between Paul and the former UFC champion has been fierce since before the fight.

Now, he is set to face off against Paul in place of Tommy Fury in Florida, on Sunday, December 18, 2021.

Why did Tommy Fury pull out of the Jake Paul fight?

There is no confirmed reason as to why Tommy Fury has dropped out of the fight.

He had a cold in recent weeks and seemed to miss training, but whether this is the reason for him missing the fight is unconfirmed.

Fury, who boasts a 7-0 record of his own, would have been Paul’s first full-time professional opponent after the 24-year-old won against two former MMA stars, an ex-basketball player, and a fellow internet star in his first four fights.
