Tyson Fury could reportedly face Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia just days before the World Cup final.

AJ will attempt to regain the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight belts against Oleksandr Usyk in the Middle East Kingdom on August 17 with the fight set to be formally announced next week.

Ukrainian Usyk outclassed the Brit at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September to claim the titles, and a rematch has been delayed by the ongoing war in Usyk’s homeland.

And, according to the Daily Mail, Fury will take on the winner in an undisputed clash between the World Cup semi-finals and final – potentially on December 17.

Thousands of football fans will be in neighbouring Qatar, including a host of Brits after England and Wales both qualified for the finals.

Fury has repeatedly intimated that he will retire after he maintained his unbeaten professional record with a spectacular knockout against Dillian Whyte at Wembley earlier this year.

But the reality is the Gypsy King was always unlikely to call it a day until he had the chance to unify the heavyweight division.

Joshua’s rematch against Usyk is set to be billed as ‘Rage On The Red Sea’ and will take place in a newly-constructed indoor stadium in the Saudi capital of Jeddah.

The fight, and reported subsequent bout with Fury for the winner, are the latest examples of Saudi Arabia’s increasing involvement in the world of sport.

It follows the purchase of Newcastle United and the inception of the highly controversial LIV Golf venture, which has seen several big names including Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau and Phil Mickelson sign up, as well as British duo Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter.
