Tyson Fury believes London heavyweight David Adeleye ‘will take over the division’ in years to come. The 26-year-old is 9-0 as a professional with 8 wins coming by way of knockout and is being given a healthy push by promoter Frank Warren.
Outside of a difficult night’s work against the always dangerous Kamil Sokolowski, Adeleye has had a decent start to his career in the paid ranks. And Fury – who is signed to the same promotional outfit – has taken notice.
The Mancunian has been using Adeleye as a sparring partner since the second Deontay Wilder fight back in 2020. During that time, they have shared hundreds of rounds together and Fury is confident he has what it takes to be a force to be reckoned with.
“Listen, Dave Adeleye is the future of this division, and I told him the other night in the changing rooms – I said, ‘you’ve got to believe in yourself Dave because you’re going to take over the division mate’,” Fury told BT Sport.
Talking about what it’s like being in camp with Fury, Adeleye said: “It’s just about working, being the best that I can be. I’ve been there for so long now, Tyson, I’ve been insured on his car for the past three years.
“Even when I’m not up there I’m still insured on his car, so I give him a text ‘Tyson, can I get the car?’ but you kind of get used to it, I’m always learning, like I said I’m a sponge, so, I go there I sit down and observe everyone. Any questions I have, I just ask, and I get the answers.”
