Tyson Fury has made a U-turn on his U-turn by insisting he will not fight again – hours after admitting he was willing to take on Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury initially announced his retirement following his stoppage win over Dillian Whyte at Wembley in April but this week revealed he is willing to return for an undisputed fight – at the right price. But the undefeated Brit has backtracked once again to claim he will only pull on a pair of gloves for an exhibition bout.

“As far as I’m concerned I’m happily retired; happy and content with my career,” he told Good Morning Britain. “Never say never, but as far as I’m concerned, me and professional boxing are kaput. Enough is enough, I’m happy to do the showbiz side of boxing.”

Few people believe Fury will remain retired with even his wife and dad admitting they expect to see him in the ring again. And on Tuesday he appeared to give the green light to the long-awaited heavyweight showdown with either Joshua or Usyk.

“I will be back in the ring 100 per cent, just like in the movie when Jerry Maguire shouted ‘Show Me The Money!’,” he told Queensberry Promotions. “If anyone can show me the money then it’s Frank Warren, I call him the Magic Man and we are going to make some big, big things happen.

“When this middleweight [Usyk] knocks out this bodybuilder [Joshua] there will only be one man to sort this absolute circus out. What I would say to the people who want this fight to happen is: you better have a big cheque book.

“Because to bring the big GK out of retirement to redeem this country – yet again – it’s going to cost. I am a prize fighter and I do fight for prizes but it is going to cost if you want me to do a mission on this middleweight and show what a real heavyweight does to them.

“And that will be expensive, they will need deep pockets and then we can talk but not before the Usyk vs Joshua fight happens first, because it is pointless before.”

Joshua’s clash with Usyk will take place in Saudi Arabia on August 20 and will be confirmed this week. Joshua lost his three belts to his rival last September when he was comfortably outpointed at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
