Throughout Joseph Parker’s preparation for his upcoming bout with Joe Joyce, Tyson Fury has been by the side of the New Zealand fighter. Parker is taking on rival Joyce at the AO Arena in Manchester this Saturday, as they contest for the WBO heavyweight interim title.
To get himself ready, the 30-year-old has had the Gypsy King alongside him whilst training after setting up base in Fury’s home town of Morecambe. Fury and Parker have been friends for some time, having been two of the most prominent names in the heavyweight division in recent years.
This is not the first time the pair have worked together, after the New Zealander also assisted the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world in his preparation to fight Dillian Whyte earlier this year. Fury saw off his fellow Englishman following a brutal technical knockout in round six at Wembley Stadium.
The Gypsy King will now be hoping his exchange of the favour to Parker will result in a similar result for the 30-year-old come Saturday night. After building a relationship, Fury recommended Parker to make a coaching link up with former champion Andy Lee.

He told iD Boxing: “I know deep down I back myself 100 percent to beat anyone. I want to beat Joyce first, twice, I have to beat him in September, have a rematch and beat him again then I’m free to fight anybody.
“He’s not even champion so he shouldn’t have a rematch clause, but it’s one of those things where they weren’t going to make the fight happen unless it was in place. I don’t need a rematch clause, for the Joshua fight I didn’t need a rematch clause because I backed myself and I back myself now. I think it shows a little weakness. Because the first time we negotiated with them they didn’t care about a rematch clause.”
