Where does Tyson Fury’s win leave the world heavyweight scene?

Tyson Fury has fired a warning message at his heavyweight title rival Oleksandr Usyk warning he is “coming” to become undisputed champion.

The ‘Gypsy King’ is looking to return to the ring next year after successfully retaining his heavyweight title with victory over trilogy rival Deontay Wilder.

Fury has expressed his desire to face Usyk but domestic rival Anthony Joshua is set to challenge the Ukrainian in a rematch next year.

A FaceTime call came in from Fury to Usyk who is currently supporting Vasyl Lomachenko in New York, warning him of his heavyweight title pursuit.

Fury comically shouted : “Oleksandr the great, tell Oleksandr I am coming for him, the great is coming to New York City!”

Usyk was with Fury’s trainer Sugar Hill Steward, who took the call with Usyk seemingly unfazed by the warning message.

The new unified champion is currently taking a break after producing a scintillating display to grab the titles from Joshua in London earlier this year.

But his team will likely soon begin negotiations to stage the rematch after ‘AJ’ activated his rematch clause in the immediate aftermath of his defeat.

Fury wanted to hijack Joshua’s rematch that is set to be made for early next year, offering him a step-aside deal to bring about an undisputed tilt.

Joshua initially dismissed the deal by bullishly stating his defiant intentions to execute a revenge plan against Usyk.

He later opened the door to a deal admitting that whatever option presented the best deal for “business” could be taken.

However the Briton demanded with any deal that he would be made the immediate challenger to the winner of the bout.

But this now looks extremely unlikely with fellow British contender Dillian Whyte having now been ordered the mandatory challenge for Fury’s illustrious green belt.

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has admitted that he believes the fans “want to see” the fight between Usyk and his charge as opposed to a rematch with Joshua.

“There’s been talks going on for a while now and it’s all got to come to fruition, it’s got to move on now,” Warren told iFL TV.

“It seems to me there is a will to make this happen and hopefully if we can get everybody to sign an agreement, without announcing it, we can move forward.

“Until it’s signed it don’t mean nothing. There is a will and we all want it, everybody wants this fight between Tyson and Usyk. Everybody.”

Fury will now be forced to negotiate a mandatory defence against Whyte next year with purses set to be ordered by the WBC in the coming days.

The champion’s promoters earlier revealed that Fury c ould be set to demand an astonishing 80 percent split of the fight purse.

However his co-promoter Arum has stated that a deal should be simple to make providing Fury does not focus on a step-aside deal to face Usyk.
