Tyson Fury to decide Whyte gameplan on the night as he dismisses “bum” rival

Fury, who defends his WBC title against domestic rival Whyte in April, has insisted he can beat his rival without any clear gameplan coming into the fight

Tyson Fury is confident he doesn’t need a gameplan to beat Dillian Whyte and will decide how to come out against his rival on the night of their fight.

Fury will defend his WBC heavyweight title against Whyte after the organisation ordered the fight between the heavyweights to take place by the end of April.

The world title clash is being targeted to take place at Wembley Stadium on April 23, which would mark Fury’s first fight in the UK in five years.

Fury – who has started his training for the fight in Dubai – put-down Whyte’s abilities whilst talking with Dubai Eye.

“I don’t know, whatever I feel like on the night really. I don’t pay these bums too much attention to be fair, whatever I feel like on the night,” he said.

“Any way or style I can definitely beat Dillian Whyte, even if I put one hand behind my back and one foot off the floor I still beat him.”

Fury won the WBC title in 2020 by knocking out Deontay Wilder in their rematch, defending the belt in their trilogy last October.

Whyte is yet to address his fight with Fury since it was announced, with ‘The Gypsy King’ mocking the interim titleholder for staying silent.

‘The Bodysnatcher’ has been waiting for his shot at Fury for over 1,000 days, winning the interim title against Oscar Rivas in July 2019.

Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn thinks Whyte is intentionally avoiding Fury’s goading messages until contracts for the fight are signed by both parties.

Frank Warren, who will co-promote the bout alongside Top Rank, said they want to “get on” with the fight and Whyte has now been sent his contract.

“That’s all we want to do, get on with it,” the Queensberry Promotions boss said. “He’s been bleating and moaning that it’s been 1,000 days – I think it’s more like 1,200 days – that he’s been waiting.

“Well he’s got his shot now and he’s getting a record purse for it, plus that carrot of £4m if he wins, so go for it.

“All the nonsense that’s gone down from Eddie Hearn about the deposit, the deposit has been paid.

“The contract has been approved by the WBC and has been sent to them, so it’s up to Whyte’s people to send it back now. The ball’s in their court, absolutely.”

Warren, who outbid Hearn for the rights of Fury vs Whyte with a massive £31million bid, paid the £4.1 million deposit for the fight last week.
