Fury and Whyte preview world heavyweight title bout

Tyson Fury will weigh a stone less than he did for his trilogy fight against Deontay Wilder when he fights Dillian Whyte on Saturday night.

Fury weighed in at 277lbs before he knocked out Wilder in their epic third fight last October. ‘The Gypsy King’ has been backed by his father John to weigh 264lbs for his WBC title defence against interim champion Whyte at Wembley. “He’s a bit lighter to tell you the truth than his last fight, I reckon the night he’ll be about 18 [stone] 12, or 18 stone 11,” John said.

It’s the lightest Fury will weigh since his edgy 2019 win against Otto Wallin, with the heavyweight champion tactically using his size advantage against Wilder in their second and third fights.

Fury has promised to match the enormity of the occasion by being the biggest version of himself to date, stating he will enter the ring as a “man mountain”. His nutritionist George Lockhart also added to the intrigue, teasing that Fury’s physique for the fight will “shock” fans.

“I will tell you at the weigh-in there’s going to be a shock,” Lockhart told Sportsmail. “People are going to be shocked at the weigh-in. People will be like, ‘holy crap’. You won’t even have to see the number on the scale.

“When you see him, you’ll know exactly what he’s been doing this whole time.”I won’t tell you the details, but losing 30lbs in 30 days, he’s done that before. There’s a reason I’ve been out here for almost four months. I’ll leave it at that.”

Fury’s weight has continued to fluctuate throughout his professional career. Spending three years away from the ring and weighing over 400lbs after battling substance abuse and mental health issues., Fury weighed 276lbs for his 2018 comeback fight against Sefer Seferi.

He weighed in the region of 250lbs for his next two bouts against Francesco Pianeta and Wilder. Fury has packed on weight ever since teaming up with SugarHill Steward in an attempt to increase his power and wear his opponents down with his 6’9″ frame.

Fury has even stated he would like to step on the scales at over 300lb for a fight. Whether he will get the chance or not remains to be seen, as the Brit has admitted he could retire following his domestic clash with Whyte.
