Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora branded a ‘tragedy’ by Simon Jordan

Simon Jordan has no interest in seeing Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora III. The talkSPORT pundit branded the contest a ‘tragedy’ and stated that he would rather see Fury in a big fight ‘he hasn’t already fought once before’.

The third encounter between both men is reportedly close to being finalised for December 3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after negotiations to stage the long-awaited showdown between Fury and Anthony Joshua fell through.

In their last two contests, back in 2011 and 2014, Fury won on both occasions in convincing fashion. Last time out, Fury became only the second man to stop the durable veteran behind David Haye via a tenth-round retirement victory. Since then, Chisora has gone on to have a mixed run against top-level opposition while Fury has established himself as one of the greatest heavyweights of his era.

Given the conclusive nature of their previous encounters, Jordan – a good friend of Chisora’s – is not convinced a third fight makes much sense. When asked by iD Boxing whether he wants to see the pair throw down again, he replied: “Not particularly, if I want to help Derek with his retirement fund then, of course, I’ll be all keen for that but as far as a compelling fight, Tyson’s got to go and fight somebody, it’s a tragedy that it has to be Derek.

After the Chisora fight, Fury is expected to face Oleksandr Usyk in the first undisputed heavyweight unification clash of the four-belt era in February.

According to Frank Warren who spoke to Express Sport last week, Fury is keen to follow this up with an all-British affair against Joe Joyce sometime in 2023.
