Fury takes aim at Joshua, Usyk and Whyte in expletive-laden rant

Tyson Fury will add over 60 per cent to his net worth when he faces Dillian Whyte in a mandatory title defence this year.

The world heavyweight champion had a value in the region of £40million after brutally knocking out Deontay Wilder back in October to retain his belt.

And after a record-breaking purse bid was won by his promoters Bob Arum and Frank Warren, he is set to make a further £25m for one fight.

The Brit will make a return to the UK for his first fight on home soil since 2018 when he faces Whyte in a bout that must take place by April 29.

Reports have indicated that April 23 is the planned date, although Warren has teased in the past that Fury could fight as soon as March 26.

And once he is paid for the fight, his net worth will rise to an eye-watering high of £65m – a sizable difference from where he was when it looked as if his boxing career was over in 2016 and 2017.

He became the unified world heavyweight champion when he dethroned Wladimir Klitschko in Dusseldorf back in 2015, but struggled with mental health issues and substance abuse after winning the belts.

And by 2018 when he announced his comeback following almost three years out of the ring, his net worth was sitting at £14m, according to the Daily Mail.

He returned to the ring with wins over Sefer Seferi and Francesco Pianeta in tune-up bouts before almost immediately taking on the fearsome and undefeated knockout artist Deontay Wilder in December 2018.

Fury once again travelled to the champion’s home country for a showdown in Los Angeles, which was scored a draw much to the chagrin of fans and experts who felt Fury had won.

For that fight, he made around £2.2m, but that number rose significantly into the eight figures for his rematches with Wilder in 2020 and 2021.

He knocked out the American in both of those fights, and has set himself up for gigantic future bouts with Whyte, as well as the winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua.

It remains to be seen where his fight with Whyte will take place, with the Principality Stadium in Cardiff and Wembley both being considered.

Fury spoke on the fight confirmation on social media, saying: “I’m coming home baby.

“Get ready for the biggest British dust-up since Lennox Lewis vs Frank Bruno. History in the making.”

Fury’s American promoter Arum then tweeted: “Dillian Whyte got what he wished for.

“I look forward to Tyson Fury defending the heavyweight title in one of the biggest all-British showdowns in boxing history. The Gypsy King is coming home.”

Fury could stand to double his new and improved net worth should he defeat Whyte and take on the winner of Usyk and Joshua’s rematch in the Middle East.

Offers had emerged for Joshua and Whyte to step aside and allow Fury to fight Usyk for monstrous money, but a deal wasn’t made and he now faces his mandatory challenger.
