GENEVA, 19th June, 2023 (WAM) — Juan Ayuso of the UAE Team Emirates took another strong victory today on stage eight of the Tour de Suisse from St. Gallen to Abtwil (25.7km), blitzing the course in a time of 32:25.
The 20-year-old talent clocked an average speed of 47.5kmph to win the stage and came within a whisker of taking the overall title. The result is very promising for the rising Spanish star as he takes the 33rd win of the year for UAE Team Emirates.
Ayuso expressed his happiness with this victory and his desire to continue the challenge in order to lead the general classification, and said that he will strive to achieve this goal, despite the strong competition that will extend all the way until next Sunday.
Meanwhile at the Tour of Slovenia, there was more podium action for UAE Team Emirates as Diego Ulissi finished 3rd place overall after a tough week of racing.
Matej Mohoric (Bahrain-Victorious) took the final stage in Novo Mesto with Filippo Zana (Jayco-Alula) taking the overall.
