It’s Division Day along with some other celebrations, and Ubisoft made three big announcements as its loot shooter turns 7 years old. The biggest piece of news is focused on its free-to-play spinoff for consoles, PC and cloud services called “Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland.”
The team at Red Storm offered more details about an adventure that is different from past entries. Instead of focusing on the big cities, “Heartland” takes place in a small Midwestern town and offers a glimpse of what happened when the dollar flu struck Main Street.
It follows McKenzie Reed, a Division agent stationed in Boston, who is on the trail of a rogue soldier named Killian Tower. He killed her team, gunning them down, and for reasons unknown, he traveled to Silver Creek and has begun amassing a Reaper army.
Reed wants to bring him to justice and players have to help her build Strategic Homeland Division base in Silver Creek. Players choose from three clases:
- A weapons expert who can deploy a turret.
- A medic who can presumably heal others
- A survival who can see items behind walls.
Each class has distinct talents, and players will need to use them to survive rogue agents and a new variation of the Dollar Flu that has popped up in this Midwestern town.
One of the biggest differences between “Heartland” and other entries is that there’s a survival aspect to it. Players will need to stay hydrated to maintain their tip-top fighting shape. If they don’t get enough liquids, they move slower and more sluggishly.
Players also have to deal with deadly contamination zones scattered around the world. These areas are full of poison that makes players sick, but they also have some valuable gear and resources inside. Players with filters can enter, but they don’t last long.

“Heartland” appears to rely a lot on teamwork as squads have to pick each other up when they lose all their health in battle. They’ll have to share items and also plan ahead with the equipment before setting out on an excursion. The rogue side of the game is also tweaked. Players will face a mix of AI and human-controlled opponents.
It’ll be interesting to see how the game evolves over time. Like many free-to-play games, it will be a living game that changes with each season.

Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence
The second game they focused on is “Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence. This is Ubisoft’s mobile game set in this universe. It will feature a co-op campaign and the entry bridges the storylines between the original Division set in New York and the sequel in Washington, D.C. It will go through a test phase this summer.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 — Year 5
Last but not least, Ubisoft revealed new details on the new year of “The Division 2.” It will be divided into four season.
Season 1, which called Broken Wings, introduces a new rogue-lite mode called Descent. It’s basically told as a training simulation for Division agents. It’s coming free to all Division 2 players. Players will also focus on the multi-season rebuild of the Castle Settlement, as reconstruct the area on the National Mall. If you didn’t it’s the Smithsonian Institution.
Season 2 is titled the Puppeteers. It introduces a new Incursion that will take players to the Meret Estate for a battle with the Cleaners.
Season 3 is called Vanguard and brings players back to New York for a holiday event that also includes new apparel.
Season 4 is known as Black Diamond. It will offer a new downloadable content story, more apparel and a new end game structure. It will also feature new manhunts.
With the new apparel, players will see noticeable crossover with the “Resident Evil” series. Players can dress up as Raccoon City personnel and a certain Umbrella Security Service operator. That will be available this month. Meanwhile, a Sam Fisher outfit will be available with the Premium Pass.
