The twin blasts in Udhampur were carried out with Union Home Minister’s visit in mind and the arrested accused was tasked with carrying out more attacks during Amit Shah’s visit, as per Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh.

Two people were injured when a mysterious blast took place in a parked bus in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Wednesday night and a similar explosion was reported in another bus on Thursday morning.

The powerful explosions rocked Udhampur town ahead of the three-day visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a press conference, ADGP Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh said, “For the last 6 months, we have observed that terrorists have been trying to revive terrorism in some parts of Jammu.”

“Mohamad Amin Bhat is involved in these blasts. He is settled in Pakistan. He contacted a terrorist named Aslam Seikh through social media apps and provided him with 3 sticky bombs and 4 new IEDs through a drone,” said Mukesh Singh. Mukesh Singh further said that he was told to carry out blasts ahead of Amit Shah’s visit.

Mukesh Singh has said that the police have recovered five more IEDs and have busted two modules, one of Lashkar and another of Jaish.

Meanwhile, J&K DGP Dilbag Singh said that the terrorists are trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in Jammu.

“We’ve arrested the accused and he has confessed. Earlier, during PM Modi’s visit, 2 Jaish terrorists were neutralised due to the alertness of police and their module was destroyed. This time it’s a Lashkar module and police arrested the accused,” said J&K DGP.

Talking about today’s Pulwama terror attack, J&K DGP Dilbag Singh said,” Our brave SPO Javed Ahmed Dar has been martyred. We are trying to trace the terrorists. This attack could also have been linked to Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit.”
