UFC featherweight Dan Ige is hyped to be back to fighting in front of a crowd again.
It’s been nearly two years since UFC featherweight Dan Ige competed in front of a crowd. He fought four times during the COVID-19 pandemic and got used to it to an extent.
But he’s looking forward to a wild atmosphere as he gets ready to face Josh Emmett at UFC 269.
Ige remains one of the most intriguing prospects at 145 pounds, despite coming off of losses in two of his last three fights. He’s looking to end his 2021 with a bang and a strong performance on one of the biggest pay-per-views of the year.
During his UFC 269 pre-fight press conference, Ige spoke about how much it means to him to compete in front of the fans once again.
“It’s been almost two years now. I think my last fight with fans was against Mirsad Bektic. I got used to it for a bit, but I’m excited to get back to it. Packed arena, excited fans, and electric energy. I expect an exciting fight with Josh [Emmett] too.”
Dan Ige vs. Josh Emmett is a potential Fight of the Night contender
Despite his recent losses, they came against top contenders such as Chan Sung Jung and Calvin Kattar. Before his loss to Kattar, Ige had been on a six-fight winning streak including wars against Edson Barboza and Mirsad Bektic.
Ige faces a tough challenge in Emmett at UFC 269, in what could be a fast-paced three-round battle. If he’s able to feed off of the crowd’s energy, Ige could get back in the thick of things in the featherweight division.
UFC 269 takes place on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Follow along with FanSided MMA, who is on-site, for all your news and highlights.
