Mackenzie Dern outlasts Tecia Torres in a back-and-forth battle at UFC 273.

UFC strawweight contender Mackenzie Dern got back in the win column in with a split decision win over Tecia Torres at UFC 273.

Torres had her way in the opening minutes of the fight on the feet, finding her timing with her striking and confusing Dern with her speed. But, Dern was able to find her rhythm in Round 2 with her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and nearly finished the fight with multiple close submission attempts.

Round 3 was back and forth from start to finish, but Dern ended up landing the more powerful shots and ended up earning the unanimous decision victory.

Dern bounced back in a big way at UFC 273 after suffering the first loss of her UFC tenure against Marina Rodriguez. She previously earned wins over the likes of Hannah Cifers and Nina Nunes.

Torres had won three in a row, including wins over the likes of Angela Hill and Sam Hughes.

Dern moves one step closer to a potential strawweight title shot and could end up in a No. 1 contender bout next.
