UFC 276 saw middleweights Sean Strickland and Alex Pereira clash.
Heading into UFC 276, many thought Sean Strickland and Alex Pereira were going to have a three-round slugfest. Why shouldn’t they? Both guys were on tears heading into the fight. Pereira was on a five-fight win streak, while Strickland had six wins in a row.
Yet, just a bit more than halfway through the first round. Pereira ended this fight in a devastating fashion. It didn’t take much, just a huge left that came across the chin and rendered Strickland unable to continue.
Strickland looked like he thought the fight was called too soon but everyone in the arena knew it was over right when it landed. How could it not be? It was the same strike that knocked out Israel Adesanya in kickboxing. Same angle, same everything.
Alex Pereira is heading straight towards Israel Adesanya
It’s almost ironic that Adesanya is on the same UFC 276 card as if he can survive Jared Cannonier, the two would make too much sense not to do for the title. Adesanya and Pereira have history and both men are huge stars in kickboxing.
While he’s only had two fights in the UFC through this point, Pereira is not new to the game. A fight between the two men needs to happen to capitalize off this current hype.
UFC 276: Israel Adesanya vs. Jared Cannonier takes place on Saturday, July 2, 2022, live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Follow along with FanSided MMA, who is on-site, for all your news and highlights.
