It only took Jalin Turner two strikes and a guillotine to put Brad Riddell and make one very loud statement.
Jalin Turner is lucky that he is not paid by the hour, because it took him only 45 seconds to stun, knockdown, and tap out Brad Riddell.
Daniel Cormier was on commentary talking about his pre-fight interview with Turner, and how he wanted to land early and at that exact moment, Turner stunned Riddell with an overhand right. Riddell wobbled around a bit, ate a hook, and then dove at Turner’s legs to try and save himself with a takedown.
However, the “Tarantula” was too fast and on point, swooping down and securing Riddell’s neck with one arm for a guillotine. A quick sweep put Turner on top a second later, and Riddell tapped out, giving Turner a huge statement victory.
Jalin Turner’s explosive power and dramatic victories should earn him a ranking in the UFC lightweight division
Turner is a menace in the lightweight division, winning five straight bouts, all with ground finishes (three via submission). Only one man has taken Turner past the second round when Matt Frevola beat Turner via decision. However, since that bout, Turner has been unstoppable and dominated any man brave enough to look across the Octagon at him.
Turner will undoubtedly become ranked in the lightweight division after this victory, at the very least taking Brad Riddell’s 14 position. However, there is an argument to be made that Turner deserves even higher, with the 12 spot, currently occupied by Conor McGregor, a realistic target for him after such a huge statement victory.
