UFC 281: Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira weigh-in results.

The UFC is back in New York City for the first time since UFC 268 last November, and it’s another stacked pay-per-view. The card is headlined by middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and his former kickboxing rival Alex Pereira. In the co-main event, Carla Esparza is looking for her first strawweight title defense against former champion Zhang Weili, and in the featured bout, we have another fight-of-the-year contender on our hands with Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler.

Israel Adesanya hasn’t lost as a middleweight and is looking to extend his title defenses to six, in order to do that, he’ll have to beat the familiar foe, Alex Pereira. Pereira owns two wins over “Stylebender” in kickboxing and is looking to make it three in total Saturday night in claiming the championship.

Carla Esparza was the first strawweight champion in UFC history, winning the Ultimate Fighter and the belt in 2014, but losing it in her very next fight. Eight years later, Esparza claimed the gold after beating Rose Namajunas, again, for the belt. Looking to not let history repeat itself, Esparza fights former champion Zhang Weili, looking for that eluded first title defense.

Michael Chandler and Justin Gaethje gave us a fight of the year in this same building 12 months ago and the UFC is hoping for more of the same this year by matching up Chandler with Dustin Poirier. The two contenders are also looking to get back into the title picture. Rounding out the card are some exciting matchups in light heavyweights Dominick Reyes and Ryan Spann, surging flyweights Erin Blanchfield and Molly McCann, and lightweights Matt Frevola and Ottman Azaitar.
