Charles Oliveira had his glasses stolen by a fan as the UFC’s lightweight champion celebrated his win over Dustin Poirier.
The Brazilian star recovered from an early knockdown to submit his opponent with a rear-naked choke which prompted Poirier to tap out.
Oliveira left the octagon with a huge grin on his face greeting fans after his latest success cemented his status at the pinnacle of the 155lb weight class.
He was pictured shaking hands with fans as he walked down the gangway from the octagon to the dressing room.
However one supporter decided it was an opportune moment to steal his glasses before security intervened to try and prevent the fan from keeping them.
Oliveira has later revealed he was reunited with his glasses, saying: “He stole it, he wanted to take it and wear it. We got it back. The security guys from the UFC took it back.”
The UFC champion has previously spoken about his need of assistance for his vision, revealing he is near-sighted which does affect his ability to see opponents shots.
However the 32-year-old seemed more than capable of retaining his belt this weekend dominating his opponent on the floor for large parts of the fight after a brief blip in the opening period.
Poirier earned his opportunity after dismissing Conor McGregor for a second time earlier this year, leading him to another world title shot.
But he was unable to capitalise on his opportunity again coming up short for the third time, after losing on his previous two attempts to become champion against Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2019.
He now faces an uncertain future with the veteran previously stating his intentions to fight at welterweight.

‘The Diamond’ spoke of being “heartbroken” in the aftermath of his defeat despite his early confidence that he was just rounds from becoming undisputed king.
“I worked hard to get back here and fight for another world title,” he told reporters at the T-Mobile Arena.
“I got choked out again – I’m just heartbroken, really. The guy is good, he’s the champ. There’s such a small room for error in these fights.
“I felt good after the first round, sitting on my stool, going into the second, I’m drinking water and thinking, ‘I’m going to be the world champion tonight,’.
“It’s just such a crazy thing that we do. Everything me and my family have is because of fighting and a lot of education in my life is through these kind of moments.
“I’m learning about myself, it just sucks. I really worked hard and sacrificed a lot and put myself in the position that I thought was going to be world champion. I knew I was either going to come out here tonight and be the world champion or fail daring greatly.”
