Tyson Fury teases ‘some big news coming’

UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has been warned against a fight with Tyson Fury.

Fury, who is the world heavyweight champion in the squared circle, has been angling for a crossover fight with Ngannou after the MMA star called him out during a recent interview.

The pair have been going back-and-forth in recent weeks, and recently had a social media exchange where Fury claimed he was willing to wear 4oz MMA gloves if Ngannou would agree to a boxing contest.

But former cruiserweight title contender BJ Flores, who is head trainer to Jake Paul, has said that the Cameroonian would not be able to get close to Fury if they met in any sort of boxing match.

” Francis Ngannou is so fun to watch,” Flores said during an episode of the Shmozone podcast. “He’s so big, strong and explosive and such a powerful athlete.

“But with Tyson Fury, it’s very, very difficult to go in there with a guy like Tyson Fury.

“It might look easy on TV but Tyson Fury is the real deal and Francis will struggle incredibly with a guy like Tyson Fury. He’s not just going to go out there and just hit him.

“Fury is going to beat him, period. I’d like them to fight other guys who are big as well – he’s not ready for Tyson Fury.”

The Brit made his latest challenge towards Ngannou last week, offering to don MMA gloves as a compromise for his rival accepting a boxing ruleset.

But Ngannou hit back, saying that they should have a fight under MMA rules, but both wearing 10oz boxing gloves.

“You want to come in to my world calling me and Wilder out to a boxing match,” Fury responded over social media.

“What I can guarantee you would be knocked out and also paid your highest purse to be so! So have a think.”

The exchange began with a TMZ interview, where Ngannou said that his new UFC contract must include a boxing clause.

He believes that he is good enough to test himself at the level of Fury or his old heavyweight rival Deontay Wilder.

“It’s always been down the line,” Ngannou said.

“This is something I’m not taking my eyes off of, it’s going to happen, either way. Even if, when the UFC and I finalise a deal, the boxing part has to be in it.

“I can’t see myself retiring without boxing. Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder. I would like to test myself to that level.”

But first, Ngannou must overcome interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane in what could be his final UFC fight.

Promotional boss Dana White has said that Ngannou is free to leave once his contract expires, which it won’t if he successfully hands the Frenchman his first MMA loss.

Meanwhile, Fury will also have to take on mandatory challengerDillian Whyte for his world heavyweight title once a purse split has been agreed after the WBC’s 80-20 ruling was appealed by Whyte.
