Sean Woodson lives up to ‘sniper’ nickname, blasts Collin Anglin for first-round KO at UFC Vegas 42.
UFC featherweight Sean Woodson used his elite boxing skillset to overwhelm Collin Anglin and earn a first-round knockout at UFC Vegas 42.
Woodson found his range early and often against Anglin, using a series of solid body shots to stifle Anglin’s advances. It was thought that Woodson would need to use his takedown defense against Anglin, but his grappling wasn’t needed as he used his boxing to earn the victory.
It was a striking clinic from Woodson, who forced Anglin against the cage right away. Once he was able to set the tempo, Woodson battered Anglin en route to the TKO finish.
At 6’2″, Woodson is a matchup nightmare for a lot of featherweights in the UFC.
Sean Woodson has won three of four fights following an impressive run on Dana White’s Contender Series
Woodson came into the fight looking to earn a second straight win after squeaking out a split decision against Youssef Zalal at UFC Vegas 28. He’s gotten back on track in a hurry since losing his UFC debut to Julian Erosa at UFC Vegas 4.
Anglin was making his second walk to the UFC octagon since also signing with the promotion following a win on Dana White’s Contender Series. He impressed UFC president Dana White with a dominant performance against Muhammadjon Naimov before falling to Melsik Baghdasaryan in his debut.
With the win over Anglin, Woodson has proven to be a legit prospect at 145 pounds and should get another tough opponent for his next fight. He has the chance to rise the featherweight division in a hurry.
