Predicting who will be the first Georgian UFC champion
Giga Chikadze looking to ‘take care of business’ at UFC Vegas 46 ahead of a potential title shot.
UFC featherweight contender Giga Chikadze knows what could be at stake for him at UFC Vegas 46, but he’s focused on what he can control.
Chikadze will square off with Calvin Kattar, another brawler who is fighting for position in the division after a tough loss to Max Holloway. The two featherweight contenders look to begin the UFC calendar year with a banger.
Chikadze is not far away from a title shot and could get a shot at the belt next with another win. But, he’s focused on the task at hand and putting on another impressive performance in his second-straight main event.
During his UFC Vegas 46 pre-fight press conference, Chikadze made his goals for this week clear.
“I think I’ve been too nice, maybe it’s time to talk some s**t,” Chikadze said. “Just wait for my trash talk. I’ve learned English very well, and I’m ready to go. I believe the best thing that I have to do is take care of business and catch [Dana White] right after the fight.”
Giga Chikadze has had his recent back-and-forths with Alexander Volkanovski
Chikadze has gone at it with featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski recently on social media, with Chikadze upset that Volkanovski opted to take a fight against Chan Sung Jung. This was after Holloway pulled out of his trilogy with Volkanovski due to a lingering injury.
Chikadze has catapulted up featherweight rankings with nine-straight victories, including most recently against Cub Swanson and Edson Barboza. After losing during an appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series, he’s made the most of his opportunity in the UFC.
Chikadze has title aspirations, and he’s focused on the task at hand to ensure that he’ll get a championship opportunity sooner rather than later.
