Russia has denied any link to the murder of Daria Dugina, while some suggest the move was made to give the Russian president a reason to retaliate or distract the public from the concerning number of Russian losses in Ukraine. The latest figures from Ukraine’s Armed Forces claim Russia’s losses have topped 45,200.
Another theory surrounding Ms Dugin’s death is that her father, a close ally to the Kremlin, was the intended target after an aggrieved Russian businessman paid for the assignation to send a message to the Kremlin over its war in Ukraine. Mr Dugin, who is sometimes referred to as “Putin’s brain” supported Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014, losing his job as a department head at Moscow State University for calling on Russia to “kill, kill, kill” Ukraine’s leaders.
