According to Alina Frolova, general director of the Centre for Defence Strategies, the Russian army has sent a special unit to the Crimean peninsula.
This unit is responsible for the service of nuclear objects, including strategic nuclear weapons.
Alina Frolova also said during a press conference that in the temporarily occupied Crimea, there are all signs of the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons.
The expert noted: “Russian missiles can reach any European capital from Crimea. The influence of the Russian threat is felt in the Caspian, Baltic and Mediterranean seas.”
Ukraine has joined the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, with Ms Frolova adding that they plan on freeing the peninsula from these types of weapons.
She said: ““All the facilities that have been restored for the purpose of storage, dislocation, and use of nuclear weapons, must be transferred to a different mode – either mothballed or used for another purpose.”
