The UK is full of brilliant breweries, but there are some hotspots in the likes of Glasgow and London that you’ll definitely want to add to the bucket list.

From a Peckham taproom that sells Greek food, to a Glasgow brewery with Billy Connolly mural, there are some unique spots that not only serve up an impressive array of beers, but also have everything you need for a few hours catching up with mates, drinking pints and tucking into some seriously good grub.

To give you a helping hand, we’ve picked out some of the top ones we think you’ll love.

Glasgow Beer Works, Glasgow

A wall mural of a Glaswegian legend

Located in the very heart of Glasgow, this brewery is renowned for its beer garden with a large mural paying tribute to Glasgow-born comedian Billy Connolly, painted by the artist John Byrne. Billy is a Glaswegian legend, and even has a song titled ‘I Wish I Was in Glasgow’.

Glasgow Beer Works is also all about supporting other small, local businesses, which includes having a range of local, independent food stands right in their beer garden.

Not only can you enjoy a pint of their refreshing beer, but you can fill up on heaps of delicious food including locally produced gourmet hotdogs.

Freedom Brewery, Staffordshire

This brewery is nestled on the side of a small valley, with spectacular views of the Staffordshire countryside.

That means heaps of wildlife right on the doorstep too – in fact, you may even spot the peacock and rare white deer which Freedom counts among its locals. Keep an eye out for the loose sheep and deer that have also been known to wander around the area!

In the summer months, the surrounding countryside makes for a great place to have a picnic. Bring along beers from the brewery and enjoy your alfresco lunch.

London Beer Factory, London

Located in South East London, London Beer Factory is home to the Barrel Project; a blendery, conditioning area and taproom all merged together in an open space.

It’s nestled under an old Victorian archway, and contains nearly 200 oak barrels for ageing beer, not to mention there are 24 taps serving up house barrel-aged and craft beers.

There are plenty of fun events on throughout the year including tap takeovers, festivals, pop-ups and themed parties.

Feeling peckish? There’s an in-house kitchen or nearby Maltby Street Market could do the trick.

This Peckham-based brewery has a taproom with 20 lines of Brick and Guest beers, including cask, as well as an outdoor seating area that’s a cracking place to head to on a sunny day.

One of the things that makes this taproom stand out from the crowd? The wholesome, freshly made Greek food you can buy on-site, courtesy of independently-owned company Mikos Gyros, who make all of their food from scratch.

Grilled pork, chicken, vegan or halloumi gyros served with pita, red onions, tomatoes, sauce and chips are just some of the delicious snacks on offer, sure to help stave off the post-beer munchies!

Moor Brewery, Bristol

Bristolians and visitors to Moor Beer, behind Temple Meads Railway Station in the centre of the city can see how Moor Brewery creates its wonderful beers

After the tour, you’ll even get a tutored tasting of the beers. It should help you recognise and get the most out of the different tasting notes and flavours.

You might even get a whole new insight into drinking beer – a pint down your local will never be the same again!

Please drink responsibly, 18+ only.
