Uncle from Another World Anime To Premiere in July

Uncle from Another World is an upcoming show that’ll add to the ever-expanding list of isekai anime. During Netflix Geeked Week 2022, it was announced that Uncle from Another World will be available on Netflix in Japan in July 2022. It wasn’t revealed when the show would become available on the streaming platform worldwide.

A new anime trailer PV was released which revealed that the anime will air on July 6, 2022 in Japan on TV channels like AT-X, Tokyo MX, KBS Kyoto, and Sun TV. It’ll premiere on some Japanese regional channels on July 7 and 8.

Cast members and key visual were also revealed for the show. Here is the list of the entire cast that has been announced:

• Takehito Koyasu, known for playing Benno in Ascendance of a Bookworm will voice the Uncle or Ojisan
• Jun Fukuyama, known for playing Draluc in The Vampire Dies in No Time will voice Takafumi
• Mikako Komatsu, known for playing Mikail in The Case Study of Vanitas will voice Fujiyama
• Haruka Tomatsu, known for playing Hori in Horimiya will voice Elf
• Aoi Yuki, known for playing Biwa in The Heike Story will voice Mabel
• Aki Toyosaki, known for playing Ristarte in Cautious Hero will voice Alicia
• Kenichi Suzumura, known for playing Takehisa in Fire Force will voice Edger
• Nobuhiko Okamoto, known for playing Karma in Assasination Classroom will voice Raiga
• HIsaki Kanemoto, known for playing Erina in Food Wars! will voice Sawae

Uncle from Another World is based on the manga by Hotondoshindeiru and is directed by Shigeki Kawai. Atelier Pontdarc will serve as the animation studio for the anime. Kenta Ihara will provide the series composition, with character designs by chief animation director Kazuhiro Ota.

The manga began serialisation in 2018 on Kadokawa Shoten’s ComicWalker website. In India, the manga is available for purchase online. Yen Press, who has licensed the manga in English, describes it as follows:

Seventeen years ago, Takafumi’s uncle fell into a coma, but now he’s back like a man risen from his grave. Soon, Takafumi discovers two bizarre things: His uncle treasures video games above all else, and, while comatose, he was actually transported to another world as some heroic guardian! Now, not only does Takafumi have to room with an uncle who is literally magical, he also has to catch the guy up on two decades of history—smartphones, high-speed internet, modern anime tropes…and the traumatic outcome of the ’90s console war!
