Heading out on a road trip is one of the best ways to enjoy some of the UK’s incredible scenery.
A new ranking from Campsites.co.uk has ranked the UK’s best road trips and the winner offers an “unforgettable” experience.

The winning route is a 516 mile adventure in the Scottish Highlands. Tourists who take on the North Coast 500 will enjoy breathtaking coastline and mountain views.
The wild route spans from Inverness to the Applecross Peninsula and reaches the northernmost point of Dunnet Head.
The North Coast 500 website describes the trip as an “unforgettable experience” with outstanding scenery.
A spokesperson said: “Bringing together a route of just over 500 miles of stunning coastal scenery, white sandy beaches, rugged mountains, remote fishing villages, hidden gems and a wealth of unforgettable experiences.”
Highlights along the route include Smoo Cave, Corrieshalloch Gorge, Sandwood Bay and the Whaligoe Steps.
The Atlantic Highway is a coastal adventure that crosses through Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.
Other popular road trip routes include the Norfolk Coast, Cotswold villages and the Lake District.
Holidaymakers should make sure they take all their rubbish with them and check that their accommodation has suitable parking facilities.
