Royal
Challengers
Bangalore,
Mumbai
Indians,
Delhi
Capitals,
Lucknow
Warriorz
and
Gujarat
Giants
were
the
five
franchises
that
will
be
part
of
the
first-ever
Women’s
Premier
League.
And
the
five
franchises
began
their
battle
off
the
field
in
the
auction
room
as
they
built
their
squads
for
the
inaugural
WPL,
which
is
set
to
be
held
from
March
4-26.
A
total
of
409
players
had
registered
their
names
for
the
auction
and
among
them
146
players’ names
were
called
out
during
the
bidding
process
with
only
87
players
landing
WPL
contracts.
Smriti
Mandhana,
Nat
Sciver
Brunt
and
Ash
Gardner
were
the
most
expensive
buys
as
they
were
bought
by
their
respective
franchises
for
over
Rs
3
Crores.
There
were
many
players
that
also
went
unsold
in
the
first
round,
but
later
returned
for
the
accelerated
process,
where
franchises
bought
them.
West
Indies’ Hayley
Matthews,
England’s
Heather
Knight,
Australian
duo
Jess
Jonassen
and
Megan
Schutt
all
found
WPL
homes
in
the
accelerated
process.
However,
players
like
Wyatt,
Luus,
Laura
Wolvaardt,
Suzie
Bates
and
King
were
among
the
59
players
that
failed
to
attract
bids
during
the
inaugural
WPL
auction
2023.
Here
is
the
full
list
of
unsold
players
in
WPL
2023
