UPDATE: Former British Olympic boxer denies allegations of using banned substance after failing drug test  

UPDATE April 4 (7.18 pm) – Boxing star Amir Khan has said that he never cheated after he has been banned from the sport for two years  

Professional boxer Amir Khan has said that he never cheated after he was banned for two years.  

The 36-year-old, who retired from boxing in May 2022, was banned as he failed the drug test after a match with rival Kell Brook during last year.  

In a statement released during an interview with Sky Sports, Khan said, “I’ve never cheated, I’m a retired fighter. You can see by my performance against Kell Brook.” 

“I lost the fight, if I went in there and knocked Brook out it’s different”.  

“I’ve never cheated in my life, I’m the one who wanted the testing on the fight.” 

“The amount in my system, could have been from shaking peoples hands”.  

“I don’t know what the drug was in my system. I’ve never cheated and I never will”. 

“It’s funny that they’ve banned me, I’m already retired anyway.”

ORIGINAL April 4 (10.57 am) – Boxer Amir Khan has been banned for two years from participating in any sports after testing positive for banned substances 

Former British Olympic medallist Amir Khan has been banned from participating in any sport for a period of two years after he tested positive for banned substances.  

The ban will last until April 5, 2024, and comes after samples of the boxer’s urine tested positive following his fight against Kelly Brook. 

This statement was made by the UK Anti-Doping who said that Khan tested positive for ostarine after his fight in February 2022, as per Sky News. 

“Ostarine is a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s prohibited list”, according to experts. 

The banned substance helps build muscles and also increases testosterone levels. 

“This case serves as a reminder that UKAD will diligently pursue Anti-Doping Rule Violations in order to protect clean sport”, said Jane Rumble UKAD chief executive
