The Elite Eight is set and will not feature a one-seed after Alabama and Houston were upset. Check out the updated March Madness bracket here.

While most pundits said that the 2023 NCAA Tournament would be crazy, no one could have seen what has unfolded over the last two weeks coming. Even more chaos busted whatever brackets were left relatively intact in the Sweet 16 as Alabama and Houston went down, ensuring that we won’t have a 1-seed in the Elite Eight for the first time in the history of March Madness.

The Sweet 16 also delivered the best game of the tournament as Kansas State won an overtime thriller over Michigan State behind a historic performance from Markquis Nowell, who broke the NCAA Tournament record for most assists in a game with 19.

The most shocking result may have been San Diego State toppling Alabama as Brian Dutcher’s team relied on a physical defensive game plan to knock the Crimson Tide off their game.

The end result of all the chaos is that we have only one former champion in the field in UCONN, which squares off with Gonzaga in the West Region final on Saturday night. The Midwest is the home of the top team left in the field, 2-seed Texas, as they square off with Miami for a spot in the Final Four.

The South Region is guaranteed to produce at least one first-time Final Four participant as Creighton takes on San Diego State. The East will see Kansas State square off against Florida Atlantic to create a group of four teams on the left side of the bracket that will produce a team competing for the national championship for the first time on April 3, which is very exciting.
