UPI payment using feature phone: Step-by-step guide, transaction limits and other details

A Unified Payments Interface or UPI is one of the most important modes of payment these days. While most people using a smartphone have easy access to this mode of payment, there are very few who are aware of the fact that smartphones are not required for UPI payments. Yes, you read that right! You can make UPI payments simply using your feature phone.

This is an important feature considering the fact that there are around 40 crore feature phone mobile subscribers in the country.

How to make UPI payments using the feature phones?

 

In order to give such users the option of UP payments, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) developed 123PAY – the UPI facility for feature phones. The important thing is that you need to create a UPI ID to use this service. 

How to set UPI ID on the phone?

 

To create, a UPI ID using your feature phone, simply dial *99#. You will be then asked to choose the name of your bank and enter details like the last six digits of your debit card and the expiry date. Following this, you will have to set up your UPI pin. Once done, your UPI ID will be activated.

How to pay using UPI ID on feature phones?

 

Step 1: Dial the IVR number 080451 63666.

Step 2: Select your preferred language.

Step 3: Now, choose the bank linked with UPI

Step 4: To confirm the details, Press ‘1’ 

Step 5: Again press ‘1’ to send money by using your mobile number.

Step 6: Enter the mobile number of the recipient.

Step 7:  Confirm the details and enter the amount 

Step 8: Enter your UPI PIN and authorise the money transfer.

What is the per day transaction limit?

 

Per day transactions limit of UPI payment is Rs 1,00,000.

What is the per transaction limit of UPI payment?

 

Per transaction limit of UPI 123Pay is Rs 5,000.
