URC to return with two mouth-watering SA derby matches

The United Rugby Championship (URC) is on a three-week break, but will return to action with two mouth-watering South African derbies later this month.

In a Friday night double-header, the Sharks will welcome the Lions to Hollywoodbets Kings Park on 23 December at 17:00.

That match will be followed by the ‘north v south’ clash between the Stormers and Bulls at the Cape Town Stadium with kick-off set for 19:15.

That latter match will be a repeat of last season’s final which saw the Stormers walk away as tournament winners.

A look at the latest log standings shows the Bulls in second place on 34 points after nine matches, while the Stormers are third with a similar number of points, but having played only eight matches.

The Lions are in fifth spot having picked up 24 points from their eight matches, while the Sharks have some work to do down in 10th place with 19 points having played seven matches to date.
