BOOZY Brits could be blocked from visiting one of the world’s top sun-soaked party destinations.

The urgent holiday warning comes as the Indonesian government threatened to clamp down on disrespectful tourists visiting Bali.

The holiday hotspot has been a favourite with backpackers, earning a reputation as the “Island of the Gods”.

However, a slew of complaints from locals who claim Brits are trashing the island has led to harsh measures being tested.

Bali officials are looking to cap international arrivals at seven million tourists per year – following a similar move by the Amsterdam city council.

Travellers may also face a stringent criteria before entering the idyllic getaway.

Earlier this year, a tourist filmed himself naked at a sacred Hindu site.

Another man was seen screaming and lunging at security officers outside a religious ritual.

While a group of tourists filed an official complaint about roosters crowing at dawn – angering farmers who rely on poultry to make a living.

Wayan Koster, Bali’s governor, told local media: “These foreigners are very arrogant but I am not anti-foreigners.

“A comprehensive evaluation is necessary to regulate the entry of foreign tourists.

“For instance, there might be a consideration of a limit of seven million individuals based on certain criteria.

“In the future, we will calculate not this level of tourism but quality tourism.

“This is to maintain Balinese culture and local wisdom, which must be dignified.”

The island – home to 4.3 million people – saw 6.3 million visitors in 2019.

Those figures are up more than two million from the decade before.

But the sharp rise has also caused increased congestion, traffic violations and mountains of rubbish, the Indonesian government said.

The island recently banned tourists from driving mopeds following anti-social behaviour.

The tough restrictions come just months after Amsterdam announced it would clamp down on rowdy Brits.
