Bronny James, the son of future NBA Hall of Famer LeBron James, suffered a cardiac arrest during a practice, his family said.
“Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest,” a family spokesman said in a statement released to the media. “Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU.”
Bronny James has committed to play college basketball at the University of Southern California. He is a prized recruit.
TMZ.com is reporting Bronny was rushed to the hospital yesterday. TMZ added that the family stressed: “LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes.”
The 18-year-old is listed as 6-feet, 3-inches tall and plays both point and shooting guard. His dad is 6-feet, 9-inches tall and is considered still one of the best players in the NBA, despite his age. LeBron is 38 and plays for the Los Angeles Lakers.
USC touted Bronny’s commitment calling him the No. 11th-ranked high school player in the nation.
The California college added that Bronny joins “guard Isaiah Collier, the No. 1 ranked player in the class and forward Arrinten Page, the No. 38 player in the class, according to ESPN.com. USC’s class is now ranked No. 4 nationally by On3.com.”
