With WhatsApp beta for Android v2.23.8.2, companion mode is being rolled out to everyone in the program, according to a report by WABetaInfo. It mentioned that after initiating the download, it could take up to 24 hours for all beta testers to be able to use the feature.
WhatsApp companion mode: What is it?

The purpose of this feature, which is an expansion of multi-device functionality, is to enable users to link their current WhatsApp account to another mobile device. Users can finally view their chats on the second device without needing an active Internet connection on the first phone after linking an existing WhatsApp account to a secondary mobile phone. Currently, the companion mode on WhatsApp for iOS is not accessible. As a result, the second device must be an Android phone or tablet.
WhatsApp companion mode: How does it work?
As per the report, your chat history will sync across all of the devices you attach to your WhatsApp account when you do so. Even though the companion mode has been made available to all beta testers, some functions, such as the ability to control broadcast lists and post a status update from the attached device, might still be missing.
It will allow you to connect up to four devices simultaneously. Also, even if you use WhatsApp from a phone that is linked to it, your personal messages and calls are still encrypted from start to finish. When you get a message, it is encrypted and delivered to all of your devices, the report said.
WhatsApp companion mode: How to connect a second Android mobile device?
- On your second Android phone, go to the Google Play Store and download the latest beta version of WhatsApp Messenger or WhatsApp Business.
- Finally, the “Connect a device” option should appear when you tap the overflow menu on the registration screen.
- Launch WhatsApp and select Settings > Connected devices on your main device.
- Use this gadget to scan the QR Code on your backup smartphone.
