Oleksandr Usyk has compared Tyson Fury’s victory over Derek Chisora to a sparring session. The Ukrainian was not impressed by The Gypsy King’s performance despite the shut-out display.
Fury was in complete control throughout the contest as he landed at will. At times it looked as though The Gypsy King could stop the fight at any moment but the iron-chinned and iron-willed Chisora stayed on his feet despite being rocked multiple times.
In the end, it was a compassionate stoppage from referee Victor Loughlin in the tenth round that called a halt to proceedings after urging trainer Don Charles to pull out Del Boy at the start of the round.
After the fight, Fury took to the mic to call out unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk who was sitting at ringside. “Usyk, you little b**** you’re next. Me and you Usyk, you’re next sucker. You little rabbit you’re getting it next. P****. Fifteen-stone little midget beat a bodybuilder well I’m not a bodybuilder,” said Fury.
When asked what he thought of Fury’s performance, the former undisputed cruiserweight champion told iFL TV: “Very good sparring.”
He added: “If he could have finished it earlier then he would have but the referee stopped it… I will train hard [for Fury] I will train really really hard and will do my best to get a victory in this fight… First, I want to do it for my country and my people and second, I want to do it for the whole world and make people happy of the fact.”
The pair are expected to face each other in the first undisputed heavyweight unification contest of the four-belt era next. According to Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk, the fight is being targeted for a date between February 18 and March 4 in the Middle East.
