Vampire skin is going viral on TikTok, and it’s the glitziest Halloween trend ever

Looking for a Halloween makeup look that’s fun, pretty and creative all at the same time? Vampire skin, TikTok’s latest beauty trend, might just have you covered. 

It all starts with makeup artist and video creator August (@imonaugust), who suggested a simple yet-effective-way of going as a Twilight vampire this Halloween. Aka, with glittery skin à la Edward and Bella.

But how? By mixing liquid glitters in with your favourite foundation, of course. “If you guys want to go as a Cullen for Halloween, just add orange contact lenses,” they wrote in the caption.

It looks like August used MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation as the base for their vampire skin look, mixed on the back of the hand with Made By Mitchell’s Blursh Lights Liquid Highlighter in ‘Drip Drip’ and Beauty Bay’s Liquid Crystal Eyeshadow in ‘Precious Topaz’.

To apply, they simply dotted all over the face and blended with a densely packed brush. They then added extra sparkles with Urban Decay’s Moon Dust in ‘Cowboy’ on the cheekbones. The lightest shade in the Nabla Cosmetics Miami Lights glitter palette was then dusted all over the high points of the face – cheekbones, brow bone, nose, temples – et voilà.

August later added in the comments: “Again, [the] key ingredient is @madebymitchell Blursh Light in Drip Drip.”

Since then, the technique has been recreated by other beauty TikTokers including Lauren Jenkins, who completed her look with gem-encrusted blood and bold lashes. Her verdict: “I LOVE THIS SM @imonaugust is a genius! I’ll definitely put more chunky glitter in there next time though.”

Other viewers were concerned that so much glitter wouldn’t suit textured skin, or that the gritty texture would be uncomfortable.

One suggested: “For those curious – doing it this way will bring out ALL the texture on your skin. Your best bet is to use a micro glitter dust spray after your base.” Another added: “L’Erbolario do a glitter spray called golden bouquet, would recommend!”

But if you do want to try the vampire skin foundation technique, just be wary that your base may feel a little, er… chunky. Try a good smoothing primer to start with, and if the skin starts to feel irritated by the glitter at all, remove immediately.
