Vanessa Demopoulos secures wild comeback, then jumps into Joe Rogan’s arms (Video)

Despite “waking up on the ground,” Vanessa Demopolous survived Silvana Gomez Juarez, locking in an armbar for a comeback win.

The ladies of the UFC were given complete control of the early prelims of UFC 270 and Vanessa Demopoulos put a huge exclamation point on that opportunity.

Demopoulos entered the Octagon an underdog, and for the first minute, it appeared that the sportsbooks had correctly predicted her bout with Silvana Gomez Juarez. Juarez was striking with purpose and Demopoulos looked off balance and already beaten. Then Juarez unleashed a massive right hook, sending Demopoulos flying to the matt.

However, despite being knocked down and eating nearly 20 unprotected strikes on the ground, Demopoulos survived. She got into a safe position on the ground, found a way to trap Juarez’s arm, and after some desperate fighting from Juarez, Demopoulos secured the armbar and a victory.

Demopoulos, already excited from getting her first-ever UFC victory, got even more worked up when she saw Joe Rogan approaching her for her post-fight interview. She immediately dove into Rogan for a hug, shouting about how excited she is to be interviewed by him.

In the post-fight interview, Demopoulos confesses to Rogan that the fight was nearly over when she got knocked down. She admits that she “woke up” on the ground during the fight and was lucky to escape the fight with a win.

After the interview, a still screaming Demopoulos jumped up into Rogan’s arms and continued to celebrate.
